Wetland Walks Begin!

Last Thursday was JCWA’s first ever Wetland Walk!

Attendees had a great time exploring a wetland environment, encountering numerous species of bird and amphibian. Probably the most memorable were the American Toads that were singing to attract mates in the flooded roadway! (Photo by Alex Busato)

If you missed out this past week but want to learn more about wetlands and the critters that live in them, JCWA will be hosting two more of these events in May and June. See the link for additional details and sign-ups. Spots are limited!

Volunteers Round Up Tires in our Watershed

A huge thank you to everyone who came out to our biannual Tire Round-Up with American Architectural Salvage this past Saturday! Our community brought in over 370 tires to be recycled, surpassing our goal by 70! And a big round of applause to our amazing board members and volunteers for helping move and stack all those tires! We could not have done it without you!

Mentored Youth Catch their Limits on Jacobs Creek!

What a great day we had at JCWA’s Mentored Youth Trout Day event! With the help of their mentors, young anglers caught their limits from the cold waters of Jacobs Creek. Some groups caught over 25 trout a piece, and the largest fish of the day was a Rainbow Trout measuring in at 21 inches! Don’t worry if you missed the event though, there are sure to be plenty of Brook and Rainbow trout left in the White Bridge Rd. section of creek for the first day of Regular Trout Season this Saturday, April 2nd. Thank you to everyone who attended the event as well as our volunteers and donors. Be sure to check out JCWA’s other upcoming events on our Facebook Page or on our Event Calendar.

On the PA Fish&Boat Commission’s annual Mentored Youth Trout Day, young anglers have the chance to fish with their mentors a week before the start of regular trout season!
