Mt. Pleasant – Shupe Run Storm Water Retrofit Construction Project
JCWA has just learned that we will be receiving this grant, which we applied for in August of 2013! We will be able to construct the storm water BMP (Best Management Practices) measures that were designed under the Mt. Pleasant Shupe Run grant. Markosky Engineering Group has designed measures, such as porous pavement areas, storm water collection, rain gardens for the Mt. Pleasant Polish Falcons Parking lot and the Maruca Mobile Home Park. These measures will help control and collect storm water flows and gradually release them into Shupe Run, decreasing erosion and sedimentation to the stream.
O’Neil Alley Green Infrastructure Project
JCWA has also just learned that we will be receiving this grant, which we also applied for in August of 2013! We will be able to complete the design and construction of green infrastructure measures in the O’Neil Alley, which is behind the Chain Bakery and Scottdale Pharmacy along Pittsburgh Street in Scottdale. Not only will these measures decrease storm water flows and related flooding and erosion issues, but they will also beautify the alley. JCWA expects to receive the finalized grant this summer.
